The audience play a big role when it comes to promoting films and making them as big as they become, because without the audience nobody will hear about the films.
Audience also play a big part if the film does well or not because if they do they give a good review on it and go off and encourage friends to go and watch but if they dont like it they tell people to not watch (WORD OF MOUTH) which also depends if its pulled out of cinemas early due to lack of people going to watch or if they extend the time of it beeing in the cinema because it was a success.
The audience usually promote movies through social networking sites such as:
Another way the audience promote their favourite movies is by buying their products such as Tshirts, bags, Jewellery etc.... and also attend the premiers of the movies, going to watch them in the cinema, Buying the DVD's, watching them online and telling friends and family (WORD OF MOUTH) and downloading the movies soundtracks on iTunes.
Some movies sometimes have a specific Target audience they are trying to reach out to such as: Teenage Girls/Females, Teen Boys/Men, Elderly People.
Teenage Girls/Females 16-35

How Films Are Made
The film cycle includes 4 main stages which are: Production, Audience Consumption, Market & Exchange and Distribution.
Production
In this stage its all about the film makers making the audience aware of the film and so they start promoting things such as releasing the soundtracks of their movies, putting out products such as t-shirts and bags to get the audience excited about the movie which will also help gain the film a lot of popularity and attention prior to its release. They also put out posters and trailers to tease the audience and get them excited for whats to come.
3. Distribution
Distribution is when the film is ready to be shown in the cinema and is the final stage of the film processs, for audience consumption and delivering the content to the audience. Once the distributers secure the date it will be released and what kind of cinema it will be shown in. The distributers have to had made sure that they had created a buzz for the film to get the audience wanting to go and watch it when its released. The film is then released for some certain about of weeks depending on if it does good or bad, if it does good they extended how many weeks it gets shown because of high demand.
4. Audience Consumption
Audience consumption is very important when it comes to film making because they are the ones that are going to view the film and the reviews are the ones that better, because it can turnish the reputation of the film or help the film do really well. Things such as 'Word of mouth' someone might say the film was good and influence others to go and watch but on the other hand some may say it wasn't good film and advice people to not watch it, so what the audience can influence people.
Production
- Pre Production: is something that happens before everything has begun such as research, location planning, the crew, storyboarding and budget.
- Production: is where everything comes together from the Pre Production and has been put together to create what they need. Such as the crew, equipment, cast, setting.
- Post Production: is where the editing takes place such as adding certain effects, sound/music. Editing the paste of the film and also advertisement to promote the film such as billboards, posters and trailers. Adding titles and graphics. Re-shooting certain scenes if needed.

TASK 1 Short Film Review
Telling Lies
Telling Lies is a short film directed by Simon Ellis. The short film is about 5 people who have confrotations the morning after a night on the phone about last nights events. We dont see any characters in the the short film apart from a black background and words of what they are saying in the conversation. The genre of the film is mainly comedy/drama and the style of the film is animation. The titile of the film ''Telling Lies"is portrayed in the short film about not being honest.
For each five characters they all have different colours when they are speaking so we know who is speaking. The imagery of the film is not bright, its quite dark. When they are telling lies the director was clever and put all the white lies in white so we know which one is a lie and which are the truth. In the film when people begin talking really fast the words begin to appear quicker on the screen and pace gets faster. Also when the characters start shouting the words are put in caps to put emphasis on how there speaking and explanation marks.
Overall I liked the film because it was different and something I hadnt seen before. It was was also very funny because of the element of comedy so it made it more enjoyable to watch. I also liked that the film had dramatic irony because we knew when there would be lie but the characters didnt.
Soft
Soft is another film directed by Simon Ellis. This short film is based on social drama. The main themes in the film are bullying, stereotypes, social class and violence. The story is about a boy who gets beaten up by a gang of youths. On the way to the corner shop the Dad then bumps into the same youths and causes trouble with him too. They then follow him to his house and begin to cause cauos trying to get the dad to react, the son then wants to stand up for himself but the father tells him not too but however is still hesitant to go. The father then tries to step up, this is when we see some cowardness because the emotion in his face he seemed scared and was afraid to step up to the bullies. The son then decides to stand up to the bullies and frighten them away he then walks away in disgust that is father did not defend him. In this film it shows a difficult relationship between a father and son and complications they deal with trying to communicate. Throughout the film we see the bad communications that the father and son have.
In the film it also tackles serious themes like social class between the gang and the father and son. The director Simon Ellis has tackled issue that happens in everyday life. We would see the gang as being part of the lower class because of how they act and their behaviour and the father and son as working class, because they live in a nice big house, a expensive looking car and the the dad is wearing a suit to give the impression he works in an office.
I liked this film because it tackles serious issues about things that are going on in the society with not only the youth of today but how adults act towards certain youths, it has a strong message that the story portrays.
Comparisons
The two different short films have some similarities and differences. The both of the element of drama in them however "Telling Lies" has a comedy side to it but "Soft" is based on a more serious situation that is going on in society and something that people can relate to the same way "Telling Lies" people can relate to. They also both have the theme of relationships.
Reviews
Looking at some film reviews some said that the film "Soft" was not all about violence but was something more than deeper than that about a fear of youths of today and about the anger of older peoples hatred to young kids. Also some revies for the film "Telling Lies" was that it was the short film was quite clever and that the film was genuinely funny to watch.

TASK 1 Movie - Review (Bad BOYZ II)
I will be doing a review on the movie Bad Boyz II which is a sequel to the movie Bad Boyz starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence the genre of the movie was mainly an action movie but also had a comedy genre to it. The film was directed by Micheal Bay and was released on July 18, 2003 and at the box office earned 200 million worldwide and was nominated at the MTV movie awards in 2004 for "Best Action Sequence". The story was written buy Marianne Wibberley, Cormac Wibberley and Ron Shelton. The film is about two miami detectives Marcus Bennett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowery (Will Smith) investigating the flow of ecstasty into Miami.
The film genre was an action movie which was replicated really well in the film, it involves explosions, weapons such as guns and car chase scenes. I think the film kept the audience engaged because it was an action movie the pace of the movie was very fast and kept the audience on their feet. The film contains some strong language and is 148 mintues long. The budjet for the movie was $130 million.
Target audience
The target audience is mainly aimed at 15+ because of the strong lanuguage the film contains so it will have a specific audience that its aimed at and suitable to watch. It also aimed at people who are a fan of the genre action movie. The audience is also aimed at people who were fans of the first movie Bad Boyz and who are fans of the actors Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
Critics/Reception
The film recieved mostly negative views.
The film was critised for its violent sence of humour, length of the film and deception of women.
Robert Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film 1 out of 4 stars. especially offended by one scene involving a teenage boy and the use of the word "nigga".
The positive views came from critic Ellen A. Kim wrote that the film was "mindlessly fun... If you like this type of movie, that is."
Since the film's release, it has been well received by audiences, praising the film's action and humor.
Awards and Nominations
At the MTV movie awards the film was nominated for "Best Action Sequence" for the inter-coastal freeway pursuit, but lost. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence won the award for "Best On-Screen Team."
