For this assignment we had to do music videos and come up with individual ideas. My idea was based on a girl who had problems in the past where she got abused by her boyfriend, which changed her as a person and she became very shy, had no self confidence and paranoid. She was always trying to run away from her past and get away from that situation but kind of didnt know how to, eventually she went back to what she really loved which was singing and that helped her break away from her problems and change into a different person. The song that I chose to use was 'Diamonds By Rihanna' I wanted to use this song because it had a meaning to what my music video was about, although the actual song is about a relationship I wanted to use it in a different way in the song it says ''Shine bright like a diamond'' meaning she should break out of her shell and let go of her past.
Once we all got into our groups, we started planning who was going to be featured in the video, the props we needed, equipment and location so we could start shooting the next week so we had atleast a week to plan it because overall we had about 3 weeks and a bit to shoot. We were able to plan everything because I only needed one person to act out in the music video which was my partner Chantel who played the actress.
What we planned was that the concept at the beginning of the video we would show a clip of her smiling of where she is now and then rewind backwards to her past and to how she got to that point. The other part of the concept was her trying to get away from her past we did some scenes of her running away and parts of her looking emotional and sad. With these shots we used camera shots and angles like Close ups, POV, Long shots and Mid close up to show the emotion of her face so we could see her expressions and also the POV shots to make the audience watching feel like and get that feel of running away from something and the Long shots to show her body language. We also got some inspiration from 'Beautiful By Christina Aguliera' because it was a sad and emotional video which related to what I was doing.
At the beginning of the our video the song 'Rihanna-Diamonds' had an intro which went perfect with our video because created a sort of dark and sad atmosphere which went with our video.
At the ending of the video she is trying to run away from her past where she comes across a singing competition, which picks up and looks at and she has the courage to enter the competition and this would eventually help her break out of her shell.
Within the filiming we had a few difficulties, which put us behind sechdule, because while shooting it looked clear on camera however when we imported it onto the computer it was all blurry and then we noticed it was all out of focus so we had to shoot it all again which made it stressful.
When we finished shooting everything Chantel was in charge of editing the footage. The editing process was good but because we had a lot to edit, we did not meet the deadline. However we still manage to finish editing and adding the final details to the music video.
During the editing process we wanted to make our music video in a different pace, so some parts of the video was slow to portray that emotion of sadness and they gradually begin to pick up pace throughout the video. We also wanted to make parts of the video darker the lighting becuase there was a certain amount of time to finish of we didnt get to do that.
I think our music video was good because of the storyline behind it and the message of the music video.My negative was that our video does look amatuer and that we did not have enough time to edit to make it how we wanted to.

RISK ASSESSMENT
Camera running out of memory or no SD card
Camera running out of memory or no SD card
- We can prevent by checking to see if their is an SD card inside the camera
- Check before we start shooting that the camera has enough space in it
- make sure to have a back up camera
- spare batteries available on the shoot
- making sure the person that is acting that scene does not get hurt
- practise to see if the person is comfortable and to see if their is risk before hand
- keep it safe where it does not get damaged in a secure place
- making sure it does not fall of from somewhere such as the tripod.
- making sure where were shooting is not noisy
- no districations
Production Schedule
12/11/12 - We first looked into the history of music videos, then made a prezi presentaion about it (Individually)
19/11/12 - We started making ideas about what song we wanted to use for our music video, and how we wanted our music video to look like and the narrative behind it all. (Individual ideas)
21/11/12 - We got into our groups and made a decision to use one person in the groups music video.
26/11/12 - We then started putting our ideas together and then made a Prezi presentation. This includes: stating the song of choice, our influences, the storyline for the music video and the senes that will take place in our music video.
28/11/12 - Cont. doing our Pre-production making sure that we was prepared to start filiming on Monday 3rd Dec.
3/12/12 - We started filimg a scene in the toilets , then on the stairs and one scene showing facial expressions.
5/12/12- We cont. to shoot more scenes for our music videos we did a couple more scenes on the stairs and in the toilet to make sure we got the perfect shot and that everything was perfect checking that camera was not out of focus..
10/12/12 - We then went on to shoot some senes outside in a park and some other close up scenes and POV shots.
12/12/12 - We began editing and adding the music (rihanna-diamonds) we then started putting the sences in the sequence of what we wanted to the music video and also edited places in where we wanted some to go slow.
17/12/12 - We cont. the editing process with almost just a bit to edit and then reviewed the whole video with the song and everything that we had put together.
