Joe Clancy - Sounds In Movie
The Film I will be analysing is Bad Boys 2 and the scene from it is 'Haitian Shout-Out'
Diagetic sounds: Dialogue eg. Talking
Foley & FX Sounds: Background music, the sound of glass being broken, chairs & tables being moved, gun shots being fired.
In the beginning of the scene there is no music/background sounds apart from the sounds of the door being aggresively swung open and voices of the actors. The music then begins to become glum and low to create that atmosphere again to anticipate something bad is about to happen.
You then begin to hear loud sounds of gun shots being fired. The low/glum music then continues through out the fight scene to create that tension. Whiles gun shots are also being fired, you can hear the sound of broken glasses and things being broken. The sound of gun shots being fired become more lower when they began to speak.
Through the fight scene, the gun shots stop for 6 seconds to break the ice as the actors start talking again and going back and forth you can still hear the glum sound music in the background, but then something happens again and the gun shots begin to get fired and become louder but also during the scene you can no longer hear the glum music just shots being constantly fired and the sounds of glass being broken.
The actors being to talk again whiles you can hear the shots still being fired in the background. The fight scene then begins to become more hectic with objects like chairs and tables moving making it look and sound very caotic. During the fight scene a teir gas gets thrown and one of the actors begin to scream loudly and then the gun shots once again stops for a few seconds and then another one is fired. After the fight scene stops it becomes quite the music is drowned out.
The film I will be analysing is Attack the Block and the scene is the 'Chase Scene'
Diagetic sounds: Talking & Shouting
Foley & FX Sound: Explosions of fireworks, thumbing of feet down the stairs, background music, police sirens, motorbike sounds.
In the beginning of the movie clip I can hear low background music, with the actors voices over powering the low music. You can also hear slight explosion sounds in the background but relatively low and sounds like its faded. The background music then begins to get more louder as the youngsters are running down the stairs to create that exciting tension that something is about to happen. During that scene as they are running down the stairs you can hear there loud footsteps and them shouting.
In the next scene where they are riding their bikes you can hear the sounds of motorbikes and the bikes tires. The music then stops and you can hear the sounds of something being burnt, the atmospheric sounds then begins again in the background creating that scary tension. During this scene there is a loud scream which then fades into an echo. The eerie music continues in the background anticipating for something to happen. As the eerie sounds begin to build up again there is another scream but even more louder in volume this time. The background music then begins to get more louder and quicker in speed as everything starts going at a fast past, you can also hear the sounds of motorbikes again and the youngsters are yelling.
It then becomes more of car chase as the police begins to chase after them and the speed of the cars begin to get louder in volume and you also hear sirens. The background music fades a little as the sounds of the police sirens get louder. All the sounds then stop and the eerie music begins again. As the aliens are approaching the police officer the eerie sounds stop then you hear a big bang, then the following officer then gets attacked by another alien and you can hear loud thumbs and bangs as he is getting attacked by the alien. As the firework is being thrown at the car you hear loud explosions and screams from the alien.
