Claymation Animation Evaluation

To make the the morph we had to use plasticine we rolled it up until it was into a ball shape then had to stretch out the arms, legs and the head after piecing the morph togther we had to attach the eyes with white plasticine and for the eye balls used black plasticine. One thing I had to be mindful of is that the morph was stable enough so when leaving it to stand it would not fall over whiles we were animaiting. Another thing we had to be cautious of was that we didnt expose it to much too the light or else it would start melting.

After me and my pattern finished making our morphs we came up with a story for the mini animation. The story was about two bestfriends, one being jealous of another because the other found a new friend a became closer with that one resulting in arguments but eventually all became good friends.

During the animation it was quite hard to animate because we had move really slow so that it would look realistic and with a short amount of time to do soit was rushed to make it look accurate and smooth. However overall I think with editing it and adding sound effects it turned out good and you can tell what was going on.

Claymation History
Claymation is used by iStop motion made with a plasticine clay. It was founded in 1972 by Aardman creation. It became so popular because its unsual and at the time I dont think anything like that was shown on TV so captivated the audience and because it looks real but yet again we know its fake thats what makes it so good.

Pros
  • it easy quite easy to make the morphs
  • it looks real even though its fake
  • you can make the move any way you want
  • you can create your own character
Cons
  • its very time consuming
  • although it looks easy it takes 2 hours to animate
  • it has to be accurate and in sync
