BBC Research History

History on the BBC
The BBC stands for British Broadcasting Company. John Reith was the founder of the BBC and was from 1889-1971. He was the first orginal manager when it was set up as BBC in 1922 and general director in 1927, The BBC was the first ever broadcasting service worldwide since the televison was invented but was suspended in 1936. It then came back to be broadcast in colour in 1967.
In total 23,000 people work for the BBC. The BBC on demand service is BBC iPlayer.

How its funded
The BBC is funded by the licence fee.
The BBC uses its income from the licence fee to pay for its TV, radio and online services.
TV is £7.96 per month per household.
