Animation History (PIONEERS OF EDITING)

Lotte Reigner is a German born animator.

Lotte Reigner is known for using Sillhoutes in her animated films. She made the first feature length animation film "The Adventure of Prince Achmed" it lasted from 1923-1926. She is also known for her first animation in 1918 and it was called "The Piped Piper Of Hamelin". She directed her first animation film in 1919 called "The ornament of the lovestruck heart". By the age of 14 Reigner had her her first shadow puppet theatre.



Terry Gilliam is an American born british screen writer, film director, actor and animator. He made animation for children one being "Do Not Adjust Your Set' Animation is how Terry Gilliam started his career using his famous technique called "Strip Cartoonist".




File:Muybridge-2.jpgEadweard Muybridge was an English photographer important for his pioneering work in photographic studies of motion and in motion picture projection.  Muybridge is known for his pioneering work on animal locomotion in 1877 and 1878, which used multiple cameras to capture motion in stop-action photographs.




Ivor the engine is a british animation made by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin's who are apart of a childrens company called "Small Films".
This animation was in black and white in 1958, then the BBC made it into colour in 1958. It was filmed using iStop motion and it was animated, using cardboard cut-outs, painted with watercolours.
